Eric Wohlfield Is 19th At Golf Nationals

Hope freshman Eric Wohlfield of Brighton, Mich.
(Brighton HS) finished 19th overall at the NCAA Division III
men's golf championships in Williamstown, Mass.
Competing in a field of 120 players, Wohlfield recorded a
72-hole total of 75-77-77-78 -- 307.
He had the best score among the five individual qualifiers
in the tournament and the second best score among all the
freshman golfers.
Wohlfield capped an outstanding first collegiate season in
which he was the medalist of the Michigan Intercollegiate
Athletic Association (MIAA) in record fashion. He established an
MIAA record by averaging 72.4 strokes over eight conference
tournaments. Over the entire season (fall and spring) he did not
have a score in the 80s.
The tournament medalist was Chad Collins of Methodist, N.C.
at 284. Methodist won the team championship for the sixth
straight year at 1,190. MIAA champion Olivet was 15th in the
field of 23 teams at 1,265.
Ironically, Hope junior Ellen Colenbrander a week earlier
finished 19th at the NCAA Division III women's golf
championships.
