Eleven Teams Honored for Academic Excellence

Eleven Hope College athletic teams have been recognized for academic excellence by being named to the 2001-02 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Team GPA Honor Roll.

The award is presented to conference teams that achieve a 3.300 or better grade point average for an entire academic year. The award is administered by the Faculty-Athletic Representatives of the MIAA member schools.

Hope has the highest number of teams recognized of any MIAA college in 2001-02, including six teams that have been honored every year since the award was instituted in 1998-99.

Hope teams honored with their cumulative GPA are: women's golf (3.530), volleyball (3.505), women's cross country (3.488), men's cross country (3.462), women's tennis (3.459), women's basketball (3.387), softball (3.382), women's swimming & diving (3.365), men's golf (3.365), women's soccer (3.332), women's track and field (3.318).

Honored four consecutive years are volleyball, women's cross country, women's tennis, women's swimming & diving, women's soccer and women's track & field.
