HSRT Remembers September 11th

Hope Summer Repertory Theatre (HSRT) uses their second space, Snow Auditorium, to perform a powerful new play by Anne Nelson. 'The Guys' focuses on the lives of two individuals, and how they are impacted by the events that took place when the World Trade Centers were attacked on September 11.

HSRT veteran Susan Ericksen ('Suds', 'Fully Committed') returns as Joan, an editor who decides to help a fire captain write eulogies for his fellow firefighters that lost their lives. Mark Goetzinger ('Orphans', 'Footloose') plays Nick, the firefighter that feels the weight of the burden after losing more than 350 men and being close friends with many.

Joan is torn because of her need to be an encouragement to the lone firefighter and the mixed feelings of not being directly involved with any of the events that day. Nick recalls his experiences with each of these men and does not understand why he was not one of them fighting that day.

Plus, HSRT is proud to welcome back former HSRT member, and current NYC firefighter, David Morkal who will lead ?talk back? sessions on June 27, 28, and 30. Additional dates for Morkal are being discussed.

This moving drama will be performed in Snow Auditorium, opening June 27 and running on June 28, 30, July 2, 9, 14, 17, 26, 28, 31, August 2, and 4.

Due to the intensity of the material, this play is not recommended for young children.
