Scrimmage is Prelude to Football Season

The traditional Meet the Dutchmen scrimmage featuring the Hope College football team will be held Saturday, Aug. 30.

The scrimmage will be held at the college's Ekdal J. Buys athletic fields which are north of Holland Municipal Stadium. The scrimmage will begin at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

With a pre-season roster of 131 players, coach Dean Kreps and his staff have been busy preparing the Flying Dutchmen for the school's 94th year of gridiron action.

The Flying Dutchmen open their season Saturday, Sept. 6 at the College of Wooster, Ohio. The home portion of the schedule will be launched Saturday, Sept. 13 with the 38th annual Hope/Holland Community Day game against DePauw, Ind.

The Flying Dutchmen are coming off a 5-5 season and second place finish (4-2) in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). A pre-season poll has pegged Hope for a third place finish in this year's race although the coaches' portion of the poll ranked the Flying Dutchmen first.
