Hope College Student String Quartet to Perform

A Hope College student string ensemble, the Tutti String Quartet, is offering a full performance on Friday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Holland.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The quartet consists of violinist Alexandru Hamzea from Brasov, Romania; violinist Jennifer Tuinenga from Holland; violist Joe Stodola from Jenison; and cellist Zachary Trumble from Jenison.

The program will include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "String Quartet in G major K387," Johannes Brahms's "Piano Quintet in F minor Op. 34 1st Movement," and Dmitri Shostakovich's "String Quartet No. 8 in C minor op. 110." The quartet will be joined on the Brahms piece by pianist Joe Turbessi of Nunica.

A reception will follow the performance.

The quartet is coached by Hope College faculty member and violinist Mihai Craioveanu. An exciting performance at the school's annual Musical Showcase concert at DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids in February also led to an invitation to perform a private concert for the Great Lakes College Association board meeting held recently at Hope College.

First United Methodist Church is located at 57 W. 10th St. in Holland.
