Greenhouse Orchid Show Runs through May 15

An orchid show is being featured in the greenhouse of the science center at Hope College through Monday, May 15.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

More than 50 blooming orchids are featured, ranging from some that were cultivated years ago by Dr. Paul Van Faasen, professor emeritus of biology, who retired in 1997, to others obtained more recently with support from Green Acres Orchids of Charlotte. Also on display are the other plants contained in the greenhouse.

The greenhouse is located on the second floor of the college's science center, and is accessible from near the southwest corner of the original Peale Science Center. The science center is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.

Through Friday, May 5, the science center is open Mondays through Thursdays from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Fridays from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. The building will be open on Saturday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conjunction with the college's Alumni Day celebration. From Monday, May 8, through Monday, May 15, the science center will be open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. While not continuously staffed, the greenhouse is generally open from 8 a.m. to dusk when the building is open.
