All-Region Football Honors for Matt Rugenstein

Hope defensive end Matt Rugenstein spent alot of time in opponents' backfield this past fall in leading the Flying Dutchmen to an MIAA championship. His accomplishments are being recognized with first team All-Region honors from Don Hansen's Football Gazette.

The junior from Grand Rapids, Mich. (GR Christian HS) was voted the most valuable defensive player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) this fall. During the season he was named a Division III national defensive player of the week after collecting 4.5 quarterback sacks against DePauw, Ind. He ranked among the Division III leaders in sacks (#14 with 11.5) and tackles for a loss (#17 with 20.5).
