Women's Basketball Team Honored for Academics

The 2008-09 Hope women's basketball team is among 25 Division III teams being honored nationally for academics.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced it Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior college/Community College.

The Flying Dutch ranked 13th in Division III for having the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the 2008-2009 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches.

The Flying Dutch, coached by Brian Morehouse, had a cumulative 3.447 grade point average.

Maryville University-St. Louis leads this year's 25-team list with a 3.625 grade point average. Calvin joined Hope on the Top 25 list with a 3.503 GPA.

The Flying Dutch were also named recipients of the MIAA Team GPA award for 2008-09.
