Senior Laura Holaway of Holland Wins Accountancy Scholarship

Hope College senior Laura Holaway of Holland has won a Michigan Accountancy Foundation (MAF) Fifth/Graduate Year Scholarship for 2012-13.

The scholarships are awarded to accounting students at Michigan colleges and universities who are entering their fifth year of study, either at the undergraduate level or the graduate level.

Holaway is double-majoring in public accounting and biology, and the $3,000 scholarship will provide support as she completes her Hope degree during the forthcoming academic year.  She is a 2008 graduate of West Ottawa High School, and the daughter of Bruce and Tonya Holaway of Holland.

The MAF supports accounting education in an effort to lead students into the constantly changing arena of certified public accounting.  Established in 1961, MAF is affiliated with the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and is funded through the support of MACPA members, professional firms and other CPA leaders.

With 18,000 members, the MACPA is the leading statewide professional organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the value of the CPA profession.  MACPA represents Michigan CPAs working in business, education, government and public accounting.
