State of Michigan Authorized Major/Minor Requirements
for Teacher Certification

Please select specific course requirements worksheet for a major or minor.

ALL Elementary Teaching Candidates must have a field placement in both an elementary and middle school prior to student teaching. At least one field placement must be diverse in terms of race/ethnicity and also social economic status.

Students will select ONE of the following five majors:

must also choose from one of the following:
Comprehensive Special Education - Emotional Impairments (Grades K-12) (SEEI)
These are listed as majors at Hope College. That will continue to be their status. However, the state will consider them to be minors for certification purposes.
