Conference on Christianity and Literature

The Conference on Christianity and Literature is an international, interdisciplinary society of scholars dedicated to a growing awareness and understanding of the relationships between Christianity and the creation, study, and teaching of literature. Founded in 1956, it grew to nearly 1300 members.

Membership is open to all persons interested in the subject, including (but not limited to) teachers at all levels, students, writers, and religious professionals. Membership is by subscription to the journal (see below).

MEETINGS: In addition to sessions at the MLA Annual Convention (with which it is affiliated as an Allied Organization), CCL sponsors seven regional conferences throughout the United States.

PUBLICATION: CCL's quarterly journal, Christianity and Literature, contains articles, book reviews, news notes, and poetry. In 1990 the Council of Editors of Learned Journals recognized C&L with Honorable Mention for its Phoenix Award. A complimentary copy will be sent on request to any potential subscriber.

AWARDS:
Student Writing Contest (annual) (Hope College has been represented among the winners)

   Book-of-the-Year Award (annual)

   Lifetime Achievement Award (occasional)
