Application process

Review the potential
student projects to see which aspects of research at the
dinosaur site intrigue you most.

Fill in the online application form (below). Please
be sure to answer all the required questions.

Supply a one page statement explaining
your interest in summer research and how you view its role in your
undergraduate education. As part of your statement please
explicitly address the following questions.
a) What are your career goals?
b) What do you expect to learn from this summer research experience?
c) What traits do you think characterize a good scientist?
d) What personal traits do you possess that will help you do excellent scientific
research?
Include a description of other work or
class experiences (jobs, internships, course work, research projects,
etc.) that have prepared you to do research. You may either

below.

Supply a photocopy of a current transcript. Either
fax to (616) 395-7125 or mail to the address below.

Arrange for one letter of recommendation
from a professor familiar with geology. The letter should
specifically address a) your potential for independent research,
and b) personality traits or social skills that suit you to successfully
live and work closely with others under sometimes physically demanding
field conditions (astute recommenders will recognize this as the "would
you camp for five weeks with this applicant" question). The
letter may be e-mailed, faxed, or mailed to:
