| The
Strings Area plays a vital role in the Music Department. It offers individual
studio lessons in all standard and orchestral string instruments (violin, viola,
cello, string bass, harp, classical guitar) taught by accomplished professional
musicians. The string program also provides instruction in a variety of chamber
ensembles as well as the symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra. Many of
our string alumni received scholarships to study at prestigious graduate
music schools and conservatories in the United States and Europe. Several students
won prizes at renowned string competitions, while others are currently holding
teaching positions throughout the country and being elected to important leadership
positions in the American String Teachers Association. |
