Quotes from Spring 2007 Experiences

"I live in an amazing apartment on Michigan Ave. (right by Millennium Park)... with other girls from our program that we met during our week of orientation. It's a fabulous place to live; we love being so close to all the action! I've had two days of my internship and can already tell it's going to be fantastic."
"I've noticed that being in a public state hospital is different from a private hospital; there definitely isn't as much money for luxury and excess. All the nurses have been very helpful and willing to pull me into rooms to let me see new things and take the time to teach and explain procedures. The residents and attendings have also been very welcoming and friendly and interested in giving me new experiences as well."
"I think one of my favorite parts of the internship is the diversity I'm surrounded by, in both patient population and co-workers; unlike West Michigan, I'm one of the only blonde-haired workers in the whole ER!"
"I really like being exposed to people of all different cultural backgrounds as that is a learning experience in and of itself. Diversity is also a part of the city in general which to me...is a huge perk."
"We've also had time to do fun things and are enjoying getting to know our way around the city. It's very different to live w/o a car and rely on public transportation and your own two feet. There is definitely a learning curve to the process of buying groceries and running errands; it's easy to forget that I have to physically carry everything I buy from the store to...my apartment."
