Katherine Koops
Corporate Finance Attorney
After college, Ms. Koops was direct-commissioned as a naval officer to
teach physics at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida.
She then tranferred to another training command where she headed a legal
office and consequently became interested in legal work. She attended
law school at the University of Florida in Gainesville before beginning
her law practice. It is Ms. Koop’s job to advise the management and
boards of directors of various companies – primarily community banks – on
a variety of corporate and regulatory issues. She gives advice on capital-raising
transactions, acquisitions, and legal/regulatory compliance. Although
it is has been difficult for the banking sector lately, Ms. Koops still
finds it interesting to have a front-row seat for the rapid evolutionof
the actions and responses of all those involved.
