Overnight Visit

Come see what Hope is all about by staying with one of us for the night. Spending the night is a great way to find out more about Hope as you try to determine if Hope is the right college for you. By staying overnight, you'll get an inside look at what it's like to be a Hope student. Most students meet their hosts late afternoon/early evening. We'll give you a glimpse of Hope through our activities and interests. We have lots of friends to introduce you to as well.

Catch our enthusiasm for Hope!

Overnight visits are typically offered Sunday, Thursday, and Friday evenings, during the academic year, and in conjunction with an Individual Visit, Visit Day or Saturday Morning Visit. Overnight visits with a current Hope student are a great way to see what campus life is all about. You will be included in the plans your overnight host has for the evening. Activities will vary depending on your overnight host and the night of the week you visit. Ask lots of questions and gain a first-hand perspective on what makes Hope a great place to spend four years.

*** Please note that seniors will be given priority for overnight stays when space is at a premium due to our academic calendar!

What to Expect

Prospective students will establish relationships and gain insight on the Hope College experience from current students. Complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner in our campus dining hall are provided to students who stay overnight. Parents are welcome, but must make lodging reservations nearby. A good option is the on-campus Haworth Inn and Conference Center which is available at a discount for prospective students. Other lodging is also available in Holland. Overnights are one evening. Priority will be given to high school seniors. If you have a friend on campus, you are welcome to make your own arrangements for an overnight stay.

What to Bring

Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, and bath towel. Be prepared to spend some time on your own since there's a good chance that your overnight host will have some studying to do. This would provide an opportunity to explore the campus or downtown Holland area. If you'd like an athletic diversion, you are invited to use the Dow Health and Physical Education Center. A swimming pool, indoor track, weight room, exercise bikes, racquetball and basketball courts are available for your use.

Scheduling an Overnight Visit

Call our Campus Visit Coordinator at 1.800.968.7850 two weeks in advance to schedule an overnight visit. After we assign an overnight host to you, your overnight host will contact you to introduce herself or himself and confirm arrangements. Occasionally overnight hosts have difficulty reaching their guests. Please call the Admissions Office to confirm your overnight arrangements if you do not hear from your overnight host two days prior to your visit.
