Coach Bob Ebels

Bob Ebels < rebels@chartermi.net > has coached the Hope College men's golf team for seventeen seasons. The Flying Dutchmen have captured the championship of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) five consecutive years and eight of the last nine years (1999-00-01-03-04-05-06-07). They have been first or second in the league standings every year since 1997. Ebels has coached ten conference medalists. Hope competed as a team in the 2000, 2006, 2007 and 2008 NCAA Division III National Championships. He was Coach of the Year for District IV Division III (Michigan-Ohio-Indiana) in 2001.

He is an avid golfer, carrying seven handicap at the Holland Country Club. He is a member of the Professional Golf Teachers and Coaches of America and has completed the course work to attain certification as a professional golf teacher.

An independent sales rep, he also owns Golf Clubs Plus of Holland, a firm that specializes in manufacturing custom-fitted golf clubs. Ebels is a member of the Professional Clubmakers Society.

Ebels was a standout fast-pitch softball pitcher for many years. In 1975, he pitched for the national champion Neil's Auto Parts team.

He is a lifelong resident of Holland. Ebels and his wife, Marilyn, are active at the Victory Point Christian Reformed Church.
