Lecture by Sculptor Ana Pellicer of Mexico, Cook Auditorium Admission is free. Ana Pellicer, has been invited to campus to share her experiences with the copper artisans of Santa Clara del Cobre, a small town in Western Mexico, and to tell us how she and her husband, James Metcalf, another renowned metal sculptor, rescued an art work that was introduced in this town over five hundred years ago. Ms. Pellicer was born in Mexico City and studied art at the New School in New York. She has served as the national director of FONART, the organization that oversees the popular traditional arts and crafts of Mexico. Her copper sculptures have been exhibited throughout Europe and several of her pieces form part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in! Mexico City. For many years she has lived in Michoacan in the Village of Santa Clara del Cobre with her husband, James Metcalf. |

Women of Michoacan Art Exhibit, Holland Area Arts Council Admission is free. A reception is being held at the Holland Area Arts Council. Sculptor Ana Pellicer will introduce the work of several women from the state of Michocan on Tuesday, November 17 at 6 p.m. reception hosted by the Holland Area Arts Council. The exhibit runs through January 5, 2010. |
