The Center for Faithful Leadership will be sponsoring a Road Rally for all Hope College students on behalf of "Flush Away Hunger." The cost is $5 per person and registration begins at 2pm in the DeVos parking lot. Each participating car should have a camera. There are prizes for first and second place!!! "Flush Away Hunger" is a team of Hope Student Leaders who have been raising money for the Allegan County food pantries. The Philadelphia Center provides students with opportunities for professional exploration, intellectual development, and personal growth in the heart of America's fifth-largest city. The accredited program features field placements, seminars, and independent living. Students select an internship from more than 800 placement opportunities and then design a Learning Plan that provides the structure for integrating work experience with educational, social and professional development objectives. Students earn 16 credits: eight from the internship and four for each course. Class topics include finance, social justice, architecture, psychotherapy, religion, Africanist perspective and senior seminar. Each fall and spring semester, 75-100 students with any major from liberal arts schools across the country participate in the program. René van den Berg, from Wycliffe Bible Translators, will discuss the various issues involved in a Bible translation project in a rural setting (Muna, Sulawesi, Indonesia; New Testament completed in 2004). These issues range from spelling decisions through detailed linguistic analysis to finding appropriate cultural equivalents in the receptor language for unknown biblical concepts. Phyllis Bennis* is a fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington DC and of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam who specializes in Middle East and United Nations issues. Formerly based at the United Nations, she has worked on US domination of the UN leading up to the Gulf War, economic sanctions on Iraq, international interventions and US foreign policy in the Middle East.

The Center for Faithful Leadership will be sponsoring a Road Rally for all Hope College students on behalf of "Flush Away Hunger." The cost is $5 per person and registration pick-up will be in the DeWitt Lobby. This is a great opportunity for friends to have fun and support our hungry neighbors in need. There are even prizes for first and second place!!! "Flush Away Hunger" is a team of Hope Student Leaders who have been raising money for the Allegan County food pantries.
