The Development of a Rule-based Recording Processor for the Beyond TV DVR

During the spring and fall semesters of 2007, a group of students worked on a plug in to the Beyond TV DVR application. While the original goal of the project was to facilitate ensuring that sporting events are recorded in their entirety, the plug in was designed to allow user-defined actions to be executed whenever a recording matching a user-defined set of conditions is met.

In this talk, we will present the architecture of our system, talk about some of the lessons we learned while developing it, and demonstrate it in action.
