Gilbert and Sullivan would be delighted with this rollicking reimagining of their classic Mikado. This new reworking infuses much of the original score with a 1940’s sensibility that blends blues, jazz, swing, gospel and sounds of popular American song and dance with a Japanese aesthetic. Set in the mythical village of Titi-Pu, where flirting is a capital offense, we find a wandering musician named Nanki-Poo who is looking for his true love, Yum-Yum. Unfortunately, Yum-Yum is destined to marry Ko-Ko. Will true love prevail? Come find out in this fun and lively musical full of hilarious hijinks, colorful characters, dazzling dance numbers and soulful singing.
