Hope College will name a new center for musical arts, which will be constructed on its campus, in honor of Jack H. Miller for his lifetime of generosity to the college.

The legendary Elvis Presley wisely stated, “Sad thing is, you can still love someone and be wrong for them.” This adage perfectly portrays the plot of the rock and roll musical All Shook Up hits the Hope Summer Repertory Theatre stage beginning June 21.

This summer the Hope Summer Repertory’s Children’s Performance Troupe starts off a little nutty by bringing the Peanuts® characters from the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz to life in the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, opening June 17th. This show is filled with laughter, fun, and unforgettable songs that the whole family will enjoy. In addition, this superb season includes The Amazing Adventures of Dr. Wonderful (And Her Dog!), opening July 8th. This detective-noir meets science-geek chic, super-cool astronomical musical theatre event is an adventure you will not forget. Get to know the Peanuts® characters and blast off with Dr. Wonderful in the Studio Theatre in the lower level of the Dewitt Center. Tickets are $12 and general seating.

What a kookier way to begin HSRT’s summer of love than with The 39 Steps! Combine a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, throw in a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This 2-time Tony® and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with non-stop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), and some good old-fashioned romance! Adapted by Patrick Barlow, from the novel by John Buchan and from the movie of Alfred Hitchcock, The 39 Steps runs for a limited engagement at the Knickbocker Theatre (86 East 8th Street) on June 14, 15, 19, 20, 26, 27, 29, and July 6 at 8:00 p.m.

Hope College’s popular contribution to Holland’s annual Tulip Time festival will continue with organ recitals on Wednesday-Saturday, May 8-11.

The Hope College Concert Series will feature Ordinary Neighbors, with Dooga Fruit and Jacob Bullard, in this year’s annual Hope Artists Show on Friday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The Hope College Flute Choir will perform on Tuesday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.
