Each Phelps Scholars Program participant spends their freshman year in Scott Hall, one of Hope’s eleven residence halls. Scott Hall has 50 rooms and is equipped with WIFI internet access, an attractive lobby, computer lab, basement lounge with ping-pong table, pool table, and TV, full kitchen, and laundry room.
Sense of Community
Living in community becomes the Phelps Scholars’ “real-life laboratory” for practicing what they learn in the classroom. Scott Hall is where Phelps Scholars form a strong network of relationships and expand their worldview by getting to know people from many different backgrounds.
Coolest thing ever about Scott Hall is the community--the unity within it. We all know each other, and everyone's always ready to talk. It's nice.

Hall Activities and Social Gatherings
From informal dinners to ping-pong games to movie nights, Scott Hall offers many opportunities for hanging out with friends, not to mention all of the additional social activities offered weekly on the larger Hope campus. In addition, Resident Assistants (RAs) offer both social and educational programs for Scott Hall residents.
An RA is in charge of creating community in the hall. I'm there to make sure my residents are connected to each other and to the campus resources they need.
