Neither Hope team will advance to the NCAA championship. At the men's MIAA qualifier this weekend regular season champion Calvin gained the post-season berth. Flying Dutch Post Dual Match Victory (4/22/13)
The Flying Dutch gained a dual match victory on their home course (Wuskowhan PC) over Adrian on Monday. Coach Greg Stafford's Dutch ended with a 329-378 advantage. Leading the Flying Dutch was Brittany Haight 78 followed by Montana Leep 83, Charlotte Park 84, Chelsea Root 84 and Maggie Mangan 86. Scores for Adrian were Kaela Hierholzer 91, Chelsey Wyman 92, Ariel Gruber 93, Haley Bandt 102 and Kari Sommerville 104.

Flying Dutch Third at MIAA Qualifier (4/13/13)
The Flying Dutch finished third in a four-team field at the first round of the MIAA Qualifier to determine the conference representative to the NCAA Championship. Regular season champion Olivet led the field at 330 strokes followed by host Saint Mary's 353, Hope 361 and Calvin 361. The medalist was Adrienne Plounde of Olivet at 38-38--76. Leading Hope was Chelsea Root at 42-43--85 followed by Montana Leep 46-45--91, Maggie Mangan 44-47--91, Charlotte Park 48-46--94 and Brittany Haight 49-45--94.

Flying Dutch Second at Adrian Invitational (4/6/13)
The Flying Dutch finishd second at the eight-team Adrian Invitational held Saturday at the Lenawee Country Club. St. Francis, Ill. won the 18-hole round with 354 strokes followed by Hope 370, Calvin 374, Lourdes 378, Adrian 389, Rochester 408, Trine 412 and Albion 412. Leading Hope was Brittany Haight 85 followed by Maggie Mangan 93, Montana Leep 94, Charlotte Park 95, Chelsea Root 96, Andrea Powell 99 and Mary Bradley 100.

Flying Dutch Finish Sixth in Illinois Tournament (3/30/13)
The Flying Dutch finished sixth in a 12-team field at the St. Francis, Ill. Spring Invitational this weekend. The two-day tournament was won by Bethel, Ind. leads the field at 322-336--658 strokes. Hope's total was 345-359--704 strokes. Scores of Hope players were Brittany Haight 83-89--172, Charlotte Park 83-91--174, Chelsea Root 86-90--176, Montana Leep 93-89--182 and Andrea Powell 94-97--191. The medalist was Mary-Kate Rohn of North Central at 78-73--151.

Flying Dutch Finish Fourth in Six-Team Invite (3/19/13)
The Flying Dutch finished fourth among six teams at the two-day, 36-hole Tennessee Wesleyan Spring Invitational that concluded Tuesday in Niota, Tenn. The University of Cumberlands led the field at 332-322--654 followed by host Tennesse Wesleyan 349-341--690, Bryan 359-349--708, Hope 356-359--715, Union 366-357--723, and Reinhart 378-371--749. The medalist was Laura Beth Harris of Cumberlands at 79-881-160. Leading Hope was Brittany Haight 88-90--178 followed by Charlotte Park 87-94--181, Andrea Powell 97-84--181, Chelsea Root 90-93--183 and Montana Leep 91-92--183.

By finishing third in the regular season standings of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) this past fall, Hope's Flying Dutch have qualified for the league's NCAA qualifying tournament this spring.

The top four teams in the fall standings (Olivet, Saint Mary's Hope and Calvin) will compete for the right to advance to the NCAA Division III championships to be held May 14-17 in Destin, Fla. The MIAA Qualifier will consist of three 18-hole rounds on April 17 and April 26-27.

Last fall for the second straight year, senior Charlotte Park (Grosse Pointe/Grosse Pointe South HS) and sophomore Brittany Haight of Otsego (Otsego HS) achieved All-MIAA first honors as they finished fourth and fifth respectively in the seasonal standings. Park was also presented the league's sportsmanship award.

The Flying Dutch finished third in the final MIAA standings to gain an opportunity to play in the league's NCAA qualifier next spring. For the second straight year, senior Charlotte Park and sophomore Brittany Haight achieved All-MIAA first honors as they finished fourth and fifth respectively in the seasonal standings. Hope's Place in MIAA Standings Comes Down to Last Round (10/12/12)

The final round of the league play will determine Hope's position in the final MIAA women's golf standings. The league-leading Olivet Comets will not be caught, but Hope is in a tight battle for second place with Saint Mary's. On Friday, in the season's fifth round at the Bedford Valley golf course, Hope and Saint Mary's tied for second place at 340 strokes each. Entering Saturday's final round, Hope has a meer two stroke advantage over Saint Mary's in the seasonal standings. Both teams will compete in the league's NCAA qualifier next Spring, with the second place finisher having the opportunity to host one of the rounds. In Friday's play, Brittany Haight and Charlotte Park led the Dutch at 83 strokes followed by Chelsea Root 86, Montana Leep 88 and Andrea Powell 88.

The Flying Dutch remain in second place in the seasonal MIAA standings after finishing third in a league jamboree on Saturday. Saint Mary's won the jamboree hosted by Adrian at 345 strokes followed by Calvin 348, Hope 350, Olivet 355, Alma 376, Adrian 392, Trine 393, Albion 416 and Kalamazoo 433. Leading Hope was Charlotte Park at 45-38--83 followed by Brittany Haight 44-40--84, Chelsea Root 45-46--91, Montana Leep 47-45--92, and Andrea Powell 47-45--92. With four of six rounds played, Olivet tops the standings at 1,328 strokes followed by Hope 1,356, Saint Mary's 1,358, Calvin 1,363, Trine 1,506, Adrian 1,517, Albion 1,578, and Kalamazoo 1,707. Haight and Park ranked fourth (82.0) and sixth (84.0) respectively in the seasonal player standings.

Flying Dutch Gain Unique Victory (10/2/12)
Mirroring the match play format of the Ryder Cup, the Flying Dutch posted a 5 1/2 to 1/2 non-conference victory over league rival Trine on the home course of Olivet (Bedford Valley) on Tuesday. In match play, the outcome is determined on a hole-by-hole basis, not by total strokes. Hope won five of the six matches and tied the sixth.

Flying Dutch Capture Rivalry Challenge (9/29/12)
With three golfers shooting in the 70s, the Flying Dutch won the second day of the Rivalry Challenge against Calvin in record form on Saturday. Playing at the Macatawa Legends golf course, coach Greg Stafford's Flying Dutch established a women's collegiate course record with a four-player total of 317 strokes. The previous course mark was 318 by Olivet in an MIAA Jamboree in 2009. Hope's two-day total was 652 strokes while Calvin's was 688.

The medalist of the two-day 36-hole tournament was Carlia Canto of Calvin at 80-75--155. Leading Hope was Brittany Haight at 83-77--160.

The Challenge scores of other Hope players were Charlotte Park 77-84--161, Chelsea Root 85-78--163, Montana Leep 83-86--169, and Andrea Powell 93-85--178.

The Challenge scores of other Calvin players were Elise Doezema 91-83--174, Sarah Arendsen 85-94--179, Casey Harkema 94-88--182, and Jennie Poole 92-100--192.

Flying Dutch Win First Half of Hope/Calvin Challenge (9/28/12)
The Flying Dutch defeated rival Calvin in the first half of the Rivalry Challenge on Friday. Playing at the Thornapple Point Golf Club, coach Greg Stafford's Dutch prevailed with a four-player score of 335-348 strokes. Leading Hope were Brittany Haight Montana Leep who each shot 83 followed by Charlotte Park 84, Chelsea Root 85 and Andrea Powell 93. The best score was record by Carlia Canto of Calvin at 80 strokes. Other Calvin scores were Sarah Arendsen 85, Elise Doezema 91, Jennie Poole 92 and Casey Harkema 94. The second half of the Challenge will be played Saturday when Hope hosts Calvin at the Macatawa Legends golf course.

Flying Dutch Second at MIAA Jamboree (9/26/12)
Results
The Flying Dutch strengthened their grip on second place in the MIAA standings by finishing runnerup at the conference Jamboree hosted by Saint Mary's on Wednesday. Olivet maintained its hold on first place by winning the Jamboree at 329 strokes followed by Hope 334, Saint Mary's 335, Calvin 342, Adrian 365, Alma 371, Trine 380, Albion 387 and Kalamazoo 428.

Midway through the conference season Olivet tops the standings at 973 strokes, followed by Hope 1,006, Saint Mary's 1,013, Calvin 1,015, Trine 1,113, Adrian 1,125, Albion 1,162, and Kalamazoo 1,274.

Medalist in the Jamboree was Adrienne Plourde of Olivet at 76 strokes. Brittany Haight led the Flying Dutch at 42-40--82 followed by Charlotte Park 42-41--83, Montana Leep 43-41--84, Chelsea Root 43-42--85 and Andrea Powell 45-499--94.

Hope has three golfers among the top ten in the seasonal standings -- #3 Brittany Haight 81.3, #9 Charlotte Park 84.3, and #10 Montana Leep 85.0.

Flying Dutch Second at Manchester Tournament (9/15/12)
The Flying Dutch finished second in the nine-team Manchester Invitational on Saturday. Indiana Wesleyan took top honors edging coach Greg Stafford's Flying Dutch by a stroke, 356-357. Tied for third at 358 were Hanover and St. Francis, followed by Trine 365, Manchester 381, Mt. Saint Joseph 381, Defiance 396 and Jackson CC 421. Charlotte Park led the Flying Dutch at 85 strokes followed by Brittany Haight 87, Chelsea Root 90, Montana Leep 95 and Andrea Powell 98.

Flying Dutch Fourth at Olivet Invitational (9/8/12)
The Flying Dutch finished fourth among eight teams at the two-day Olivet Invitational. Bethel, Ind. won the 36-hole meet at 645 strokes followed by Olivet 661, North Central 677, Hope 681, St. Francis 689, Calvin 712, Trine 725 and Wheaton 744. Charlotte Park led the Flying Dutch with a two-day total of 163 strokes followed by Brittany Haight 168, Andrea Powell 171, Montana Leep 172 and Chelsea Root 182.

Flying Dutch Compete in Olivet Invitational (9/7/12)
The Flying Dutch are tied for third place after the first day of the Olivet Invitational. Bethel, Ind. is the leader at 323 strokes followed by host Olivet at 325. Hope and North Central, Ill. are tied for third at 335 strokes. Charlotte Park led the Flying Dutch at 80 strokes, followed by Brittany Haight 83, Maggie Mangan 85, Andrea Powell 87 and Chelsea Root 88.

Flying Dutch Open Season With Strong Performance (9/4/12)
The Flying Dutch finished second in a nine-team season opening tournament hosted by Trine on Tuesday, Marian, Ind. led the field at 353 strokes while just three strokes behind was Hope at 353, followed by host Trine 360, Adrian 364, Manchester 382, Albion 388, Mount St. Joseph 394, Rochester 409 and Kalamazoo 434. Sharing top honors for the Flying Dutch were sophomore Brittany Haight and freshman Chelsea Root at 87 strokes followed by senior Charlotte Park 91, senior Maggie Mangan 91 and sophomore Andrea Powell 93.

The 2012 Flying Dutch will be aiming to continue their march toward a conference championship after taking huge strides a year ago.

After finishing third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) for three consecutive seasons, the 2011 Flying Dutch moved up to second place in both the regular season standings and at the league's NCAA automatic qualifier tournament. The Flying Dutch were first in the league standings heading into the season's final tournament. The Flying Dutch are under third-year coach Greg Stafford.

Captains of the team are seniors Maggie Mangan of Wheaton, Ill. (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) and Charlotte Park of Grosse Pointe Farms (Grosse Pointe South HS).

The pre-season roster of eight returning players includes two seniors, a junior and five sophomores.

Park and Brittany Haight, a sophomore from Otsego (Otsego HS) received All-MIAA first teams honors in 2011. They ranked second and third in the seasonal player standings, Park averaging 80.7 strokes over six league rounds and Haight right behind at 81.4.

Flying Dutch Golfers Named All-American Scholars (7/6/12)
Five members of the 2011-12 Hope College women's golf team have been named All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association. The national honor roll recognizes 585 golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III programs who achieved a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average during the 2011-12 school year.

Hope honorees are (year in school was 2011-12): senior Emily Atsma of Caledonia (South Christian HS), senior Andrea McCarty of Denver, Colo. (Cherry Creek HS), junior Charlotte Park of Grosse Pointe (Grosse Pointe South HS), senior Megan Scholten of Grand Rapids (Grand Rapids Christian HS), and senior Lauren Zandstra of Flushing (Flushing HS). Scholten is being honored for a fourth consecutive year while Zandstra is an honoree for a third time. Park and Atsma have each been honored twice.

The Flying Dutch, coached by Greg Stafford, were earlier named to the Academic Honor Roll of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with a 3.692 team cumulative GPA.

Flying Dutch End Second at NCAA Qualifier (4/28/12)
The Flying Dutch finished second in the MIAA's four-team NCAA qualifier. Saint Mary's won post-season bid after three rounds. The final round was the most competitive in the series with Saint Mary's and Olivet tying for first place at 328 strokes while Hope was just one stroke behind (329) followed by Calvin (353). Saint Mary's ultimate margin of victory all came in the first round. The Belles ended at 986 strokes followed by Hope 1,009, Olivet 1,016 and Calvin 1,091.

The Flying Dutch had won the MIAA's second NCAA-qualifying tournament, but with one round remaining the climb to the overall lead was sizeable. Coach Greg Stafford's Flying Dutch won the 18-hole round at The Medalist by four strokes over Saint Mary's, but still trail the Belles by 22 strokes heading into the final round, also at The Medalist. Hope ended the round at 330 strokes followed by Saint Mary's 334, Olivet 341 and Calvin 354. After two rounds Saint Mary's has 658 strokes followed by Hope 680, Olivet 686 and Calvin 758.

The first of three rounds to determine the MIAA's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III championships went to Saint Mary's on Tuesday. The 18-hole round at Hope's Wuskowhan Player Club course went to the Belles at 324 strokes followed by Olivet 345, Hope 350 and Calvin 384.

Second place is Hope's highest under third-year coach Greg Stafford and the best since 2003.
