Eva
Dean Folkert, director of women's athletics at Hope, became the women's
golf coach in 2005. The 2007 team finished fourth in the MIAA.
Folkert joined the Hope staff in 1985. She has held positions in
the public relations and registrar offices. In 1997 she joined the
kinesiology staff, serving as assistant director of the intramural
sports program until 2003 when she was named senior woman administrator.
She was promoted to director of women's athletics and assistant professor of kinesiology in 2005.
She graduated from Hope in 1983 and received the master of arts in
sport management from Western Michigan University in 2005.
In 2005 she was presented the college's Vanderbush-Weller Development
Fund award for her strong, positive impact on students.
Folkert serves on the NCAA Division
III Women's Golf Championships committee. In 2005 she was the
meet manager when Hope College hosted the NCAA Division III Swimming
Championships for men and women and is serving in a similar capacity
as Hope hosts NCAA Division III Women's Basketball
Championships (2008 & 2009).
