Greg Stafford became head coach of the Hope College women's golf team in 2009. The Flying Dutch finished third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Stafford, who served as a volunteer assistant coach of the Flying Dutch in 2007 and 2008, succeeded Eva Dean Folkert so that she could devote her time to serving as co-director of athletics.

Stafford had extensive coaching experience in several sports at Godwin Heights High School over four decades, including both the girl's and boy's varsity golf teams. He started the girl's program at Godwin Heights qualifying the team or players to the MHSAA tournament four consecutive years.
