HOLLAND -- An international bazaar, a variety show and an international buffet will provide a sampling of cultural heritage from around the world during Hope College's "Images 2001: A Reflection of Cultures," which will take place on Saturday, March 31, at the Knickerbocker Theatre and Phelps Hall.

Approximately 100 students, faculty and members of the community will be participating. There is an admission charge for the buffet, but the international bazaar and variety show are each free.

"Images 2001: A Reflection of Cultures" will begin with the international bazaar, which will begin at 2 p.m. in the walkway of the 100 East Eighth Street building, which is connected to and stands immediately east of the Knickerbocker Theatre downtown.

The variety show will begin in the theatre at 3 p.m., with the doors opening at 2:30 p.m. The show will feature songs, poems, dances and other clips of culture in multiple languages and fashions. Countries represented will include Japan, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Germany and Mexico.

A free-will offering will be taken during the variety show's intermission to help support earthquake relief in India.

The international buffet will be held served at 5 p.m. in the Phelps Hall dining room. For those not on the college's meal plan, admission will be $5.50 for those 12 and older, and $2.50 for children who are five to 11 years old. Admission to the buffet will be payable at the door.

There will also be a "Post-Images" celebration/dance in the evening for the college's students.

"Images 2001: A Reflection of Cultures" is sponsored by the college's Office of International Education and Office of Multicultural Life.

The Knickerbocker Theatre is located at 86 E. 8th St. Phelps Hall is located on the corner of Columbia Avenue and 10th Street.
