Children's Performance Troupe to Tour
"The New Kid" in May
Posted March 19, 2002
HOLLAND -- The Hope Summer Repertory Theatre will
run its annual Children's Performance Troupe (CPT) Spring
Tour in May for elementary schools and libraries in West
Michigan.
The play for the tour will be "The New Kid" by
Dennis Foon. The play is the lively, funny story of how
America looks to young Nick as he adjusts to his new
homeland, "a land of Grosta Macs, Greesee Spudnicks, Bakee
Lassees, and schlamstick."
For more than 25 years, the CPT has brought the
magic of theatre to children and has become an annual event
in many West Michigan schools. More than entertainment, the
CPT offers theatre which carries a message and provides an
opportunity for children to think and talk about issues in
their lives.
For many children, the productions provide a first
exposure to the joy of live theatre, inspiring a lifetime of
appreciation for and experience in the art of theatre.
Available dates and other information may be
obtained through Judyth Thomas at the department of theatre
at Hope College, (616) 395-7600.
