Hope Music Faculty to Present
Recitals on March 10 and 12

HOLLAND -- Members of the music faculty of Hope
College will continue their recital series on Sunday, March
10, at 4 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music,
and on Tuesday, March 12, at 8 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial
Chapel.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The March 10 recital features Margaret Kennedy-
Dygas, soprano, accompanied by pianist Charles Aschbrenner.
The recital begins with six German songs by Johannes Brahms,
including "An die Nachtigall (Op. 46, no. 4),"
"Feldeinsamkeit (Op.86, no. 2)" and "Von ewiger Liebe (Op.
43, no. 1)." The scene "Nun eilt herbei" from Otto
Nicholai's "Die lustigen Weiber von Windser" will follow the
Brahms.
Also on the program are five French songs by
Ernest Chausson. The program concludes with Samuel Barber's
"Hermit Songs, Op. 29."
On Tuesday, March 12, pianist Mansoon Han will
present works by Haydn, Liszt, and Schumann. The program
begins with the "Sonata in C Major" by Franz Joseph Haydn,
followed by "Fantasia on an Ostinato" by John Corigliano.
Also on the program is "Vallee d'Obermann" from the "Annes
de Pelerinage: Premire Annee Suisse" by Franz Liszt. The
program will conclude with the "Sonata in f sharp minor, Op.
11" by Robert Schumann.
The March 12 recital will be Han's first solo
recital since joining the music faculty at Hope College.
Among Han's distinguished teachers is Ann Schein, who
performed at the college on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
Nykerk Hall of Music is located between College
and Columbia avenues on the former 12th Street. Dimnent
Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
