Kevin Kraay and Doug Van Dyken
Promoted in Business Office

HOLLAND -- Kevin Kraay and Doug Van Dyken have
both been promoted within the Business Office at Hope
College.
Kraay has been promoted to business manager from
associate business manager. Van Dyken has been promoted to
controller from assistant controller.
"Both Kevin and Doug have served the college with
distinction over the past 16 and 14 years respectively,"
said Barry Werkman, who was promoted to vice president for
finance during the summer after previously serving as
business manager and controller. "They are both very
financially astute individuals who possess excellent
knowledge of the financial requirements of the college as
well as have valuable experience in its business
operations."
Kraay joined the Hope staff in 1985 as director of
accounting. He was named assistant business manager in
1987, and associate business manager in 1995. His
responsibilities have included payroll, accounts receivable,
purchasing, insurance and grant accounting.
In his new position, he continues with his prior
responsibilities in addition to managing accounting for the
Hope-Geneva Bookstore, the college's food service, indirect
cost calculation and cash management.
Kraay graduated from Hope in 1981 with a major in
business administration. Prior to joining the Hope staff he
held an accounting position with the Reformed Church in
America.
He and his wife Patty live in Zeeland and have two
children.
Van Dyken joined the staff as director of
accounting in 1987, the year he graduated from Hope with a
major in accounting. He was named assistant controller in
1995.
His responsibilities include the college's general
and subsidiary ledgers, reconciliation of bank accounts,
data control, investments, accounts payable, endowment fund
reporting, budget performance review, external financial
reporting and annual audit schedules.
Van Dyken received an MBA from Grand Valley State
University in 1996. He and his wife Beth, who is also a
1987 Hope graduate, live in Zeeland and have three children.
