Faculty Recital Series Will Feature
World Premiere on
Sunday, Oct. 27

HOLLAND -- The second Hope College Faculty Recital
Series concert of the 2002-03 season will feature a world
premiere, and a variety of works and instruments.
The concert will be presented on Sunday, Oct. 27,
at 3 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.
The public is invited, and admission is free.
"Sonata for Violin and Viola," by Will Gay Bottje,
will have its world premiere performance. Mihai Craioveanu,
violinist, and Deborah Craioveanu, violist, will be the
performers.
The afternoon recital will open with
"Improvisation et Caprice" by Eugene Bozza, and will be
performed by alto saxophonist Ryan Janus.
The piece is followed by a work by Johannes
Brahms, "Auf dem Kirchhofe." Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth La
Grande will be featured, along with accompanist Sheryl lott
Richardson.
The concert ends with Andrew Previn's "Sonata for
Bassoon and Piano." The piece will be performed by
bassoonist Steven Ward and pianist Jennifer Wolfe.
Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the middle of
the Hope campus, between College and Columbia avenues along
the former 12th Street.
