Knickerbocker Theatre Changes Final Film in Series
Posted March 10, 2003
HOLLAND -- The Knickerbocker Theatre at Hope
College will show "Happy Times" instead of "Mostly Martha"
at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. through Saturday, March 15, to close
its Winter Film Series.
"Mostly Martha" was not available from the
distributor as originally anticipated, according to Erik
Alberg of the Knickerbocker Theatre.
"Happy Times" is a bittersweet comedy by Zhang
Yimou ("The Road Home," "Not One Less"). Set in
contemporary China, the film follows the complications that
arise when middle-aged bachelor Zhao, desperate to marry,
mis-represents himself as a wealthy hotel owner to a
divorcee he meets through a dating service. He and his
friends maintain the fiction when she insists that he
provide a job as a masseuse to her blind step-daughter,
about whom he starts to care.
"Happy Times" is rated PG, and is in Mandarin with
English subtitles. The film has a running time of one hour
and 35 minutes.
The Knickerbocker Theatre is located at 86 E. 8th
St. in downtown Holland. Tickets are $5 for regular
admission, and $4 for children and senior citizens, and may
be purchased at the door.
