Hope College Pianist Mansoon Han Kim
And Guest Artists to Perform

HOLLAND -- Hope College piano faculty member
Mansoon Han Kim will present an open rehearsal and concert
as part of a quartet with guest artists from the University
of Iowa on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The public is invited to both events. Admission
is free.
The open rehearsal will take place at 11 a.m. in
Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music, and the concert
will be at 8 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
The rehearsal will focus on Robert Schumann's
piano quartet, and will include discussion about the piece.
The evening performance will feature Schumann's
"Piano Quartet in E flat Major, Op.47," Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart's "Piano Quartet in G minor, K. 478," J.S. Bach's
"Three-Part Inventions" and Thomas Morley's "Nine
Fantasies."
Kim began her piano studies in Korea at age six,
and won numerous competitions before graduating from Seoul
National University in 1991. She studied with Ann Schein at
the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she
has completed her doctorate in music. Kim is currently
assistant professor of piano at Hope, and has an active
performing career that has taken throughout the United
States, including Carnegie Hall in New York City.
She is joined by two members of the Maia String
Quartet, violinist Timothy Shiu, and cellist Hannah Holman.
Violist Suzanne Wagor will also be performing as part of the
quartet.
Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the central
campus along the former 12th Street between College and
Columbia avenues. Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on
College Avenue at 12th Street.
