CrossRoads Project Announces Grants to Faculty The CrossRoads Project is pleased to announce that six Hope College faculty members have been awarded faculty development grants in one of the Project's annual initiatives.

These grants are for the development of Senior Seminars and First-Year Seminars with a focus on the theological exploration of issues surrounding faith, work, calling, and vocation.

These grants are the result of a competitive application process in which faculty submitted detailed proposals for developing new courses.

The awardees are:

For the Development of First Year Seminars

  • Curtis Gruenler (English): "The Call of Songs"

  • Deirdre Johnson (Communication) and Debra Swanson (Sociology/Social Work): "How to Make the Right Choice for You: Parenthood & Vocation"

  • William Pannapacker (English): "Exploring Vocation Through Film"

For the Development of Senior Seminars

  • Amanda J. Barton (Nursing): "An International Perspective on Human Rights and Human Value"

  • Natalie A. Dykstra (English): "Pathographies: Narratives of Illness, Health, and Vocation"

Congratulations to these awardees, and many thanks to all who applied -- as well as to those who participated in the decision-making process.
