Pianist Soyeon Park to Open Faculty
Recital Series on Sunday, Oct. 5

HOLLAND – The Hope College Faculty Recital Series opens its year of performances with a solo piano recital by Soyeon Park on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Park’s recital includes Wolfgang A. Mozart’s “Nine Variations on Duport theme K. 573 in D,” Richard Danielpour’s “The Enchanted Garden: preludes, book 1,” and ”Four Mazurkas Op.17,” by Fredrick Chopin. She will end her program with Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Sonata No. 23, Op. 57 in f minor.”

A native of Korea, Park grew up in New York City, where she studied at the Juilliard Preparatory School and later received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the Juilliard School. She received a master of music in piano performance and pedagogy, and a Graduate Performance Diploma, at the Peabody Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Ann Schein and Marian Hahn. Park is pursing a doctorate degree in musical arts at Northwestern University where she is also a lecturer. She is currently teaching at Hope College as a visiting instructor of music.

Park has participated in numerous music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, Las Vegas Music Festival and Aria International Summer Festival with scholarships. She is a second-prize winner of Seoul National Music Magazine piano competition and a recipient of Thaviu/Issak endowed piano scholarship competition. Her performances have been heard on Las Vegas Public Radio, KNPR, and in “Wednesday at One” chamber music series at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
