Hope sophomore Andy Phillips of White Pigeon (Sturgis HS) has been named a Division III basketball All-American by the publication DIII News.

He is one of 25 players named to the honor squads. There are only three sophomores and a total of six underclassmen among the honorees.

Phillips was voted the most valuable player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and to the all-district first team for the Great Lakes Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Phillips is a two-sport athlete at Hope. He is currently undefeated in singles play on the tennis squad.
