The Hope College Concert Series will feature Stationary Travelers during the series’ second annual Hope Artist Show on Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
The Hope Artist Show offers an evening focused on the talented artists and bands in the student body, and each year features a different group. The yearly show emphasizes community at Hope and in the local area, and various students will be involved to a greater extent in order to make the show happen. In addition, each show is documented with both quality video and audio so that Hope might build an extensive collection of Hope artists, and so that these concerts might be experienced again many years from now.
Stationary Travelers consists of seniors Jack Droppers of Maitland, Fla., Colin Rathbun of Ada and Garrett Stier of Davison, and junior Mike Bass of Hudsonville. Droppers, Rathbun and Stier formed the band as Hope freshmen, with Bass joining the group the next year. The band’s music has become intimately familiar to many Hope students, and the band’s show in the Good Time Donuts parking lot in downtown Holland is part of Hope College lore.
Stationary Travelers will play on the Dimnent stage facing the choir loft, while the audience will be located in and around the choir area. The unique reverse-stage format is designed to offer an intimate and exciting environment for the show.
Senior Laura Hobson of Flushing, a pianist and vocalist, will open the night with her own original music.
Following Hobson, Grand Rapids band Patchwork will take the stage with its mixture of rootsy folk and entertaining, energetic songwriting.
Tickets for the concert are $5 for the general public and free for Hope College students, and are available at the ticket office in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse.
