An outstanding senior season that played a significant part in Hope's march to a league co-championship has resulted in a post-season honor for TJ Klein of Circle Pines, Minn. (Centennial HS) who has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings all-region team.
He has been named to the second team in the Mideast region which represents Division III schools in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
A three-year starter in centerfield, Klein was co-captain of the team as a junior and senior. He received All-MIAA honors for three seasons, second team in his sophomore and junior years and first team as a senior.
This season he batted .365 with a team-leading 50 hits as the Flying Dutchmen gained a share of the league championship with Adrian. He scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning of the regular season finale against rival Calvin to clinch the title share.
He ended his career with a .346 batting average, ranking among the all-time Hope leaders in several categories, including runs scored (#4-118), hits (#5-161), stolen bases (#5-30) and RBIs (#8-85). His career fielding average was a stellar .988. The Flying Dutchmen over his career posted 105 wins, the most in any four-year stretch for Hope baseball history
