The G.R.O.W. initiative is a campus-wide movement to create a shared community vision to establish a common, positive, dynamic, inclusive and asset based approach to diversity and inclusion. The acronym G.R.O.W. stands for:

"Growing Relationships
through diverse
to strengthen involvement
in an ever-changing

Hope College is committed to GROWing and sustaining a diverse and inclusive learning, living, and working environment that “prepares students for lives of leadership and service in a global society” and enables all constituents to thrive and achieve their full potential.

The face of America is dramatically changing. As a result, both students and faculty at colleges and universities are becoming increasingly varied in their backgrounds and experiences, reflecting the diversity in our broader society. Therefore, it is crucial to create a learning environment that respects all aspects of diversity.

When? / How?

The G.R.O.W. initiative is not a single program or event. It is a campus-wide movement and tangible framework to expand our vision, appreciation, engagement and contributions to diversity. As more departments and constituents join this movement, there will be more opportunities to G.R.O.W. and strengthen relationships with people from different backgrounds; become more culturally aware, excited and responsible; and contribute to the goals of building a diverse, equitable, inclusive and welcoming community of Hope College. G.R.O.W opportunities will be posted here and throughout the campus community.

The G.R.O.W. initiative/movement is campus-wide; therefore all constituents; students, faculty, staff, administrators, trustees, alumni, parents, and the broader campus community are encouraged to get involved in this initiative/movement. G.R.O.W. is intended to make all constituents feel encouraged to learn and grow together.
