COMPLETING YOUR HOUSING CARD: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All students
whose Housing Cards were received after June 8, 2012 can expect their
roommate assignment by the first week of August 2012.
See below for answers to many of the most frequently asked
questions by students who are filling out their Housing Cards. Please feel
free to contact the Housing Office with any additional questions.
• Can I give a preference as to where I want to live?
We try to accommodate housing preferences to the best of our ability.
Rather than identify a specific residence hall, you will be able to list
a preference for the size of the community and for a single gender or
co-educational residential hall. We strongly believe that every residence
hall is a good environment. Like most things, the energy and attitude
you bring will have a drastic impact on the overall experience. You may
list specific buildings in the “comments” section at the
end of the Housing Card. While we try to accommodate requests for a specific
building, we cannot guarantee it.
• Can I request to live with a friend?
Yes, we make every effort to work with friends who want to be roommates.
Please note: We only honor mutual requests as stated on both Housing
Cards. The Housing Office must receive both Housing Cards by
June 8. After that time, we are unable to guarantee that you will be housed together
or in communities that match your preferences.
• What if I need an accommodation in my
housing?
Housing accommodations are available for students with special needs. If
you require an accommodation, please have your physician or licensed therapist
complete the Request for Accommodations Form that is available online at
http://www.hope.edu/student/residential/ready/Request%20for%20Accommodations%20Form_RevB.pdf We must receive your Housing Card and completed Request for Accommodation
Form no later than
June 8 in order for us to accommodate your request.
• When will I receive my housing assignment and roommate’s
name?
Our goal is to begin mailing out assignments (starting with those Housing
Cards received by June 8) the week of July 23 and after that on a weekly
basis. If you have not received your housing assignment by Friday, August
10, please call or email the Housing Office, (616) 395-7943, or housing@hope.edu.
This will give you ample time to contact your roommate in order for you
to get to know each other before you arrive on Friday, August 24, 2012
for Orientation.
