Costs & Financial Aid

We do everything we can to make sure that a Hope College experience provides great value at an affordable rate.

2024–25 Costs

These costs are for incoming students. Returning student costs can be found at the Financial Aid website.

Indirect Costs

Costs such as books, travel and personal expenses range from $3,330 to $3,940, depending on distance and personal lifestyle. View additional information about indirect costs.

Anchored Tuition Pledge

The Anchored Tuition Pledge is our promise to hold tuition at one rate for each incoming class — you’ll pay the same tuition rate for the duration of your education at Hope. In 2024-25, the tuition rate will be $41,500 for incoming students (first time at Hope). This will be the rate every year during your time at Hope. Anchored Tuition Pledge

Applying For Financial Aid

U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines your eligibility for federal and state grants and federal loans, as well as need-based gift aid from Hope.

Timeline

October — Students can create their FSA ID
December — Students can fill out the FAFSA
Mid-March — Hope begins mailing financial aid packages
May 1 — FAFSA deadline for priority consideration
May 1 — enrollment deposit is due for incoming freshmen

International Citizens

Process
The awarding of an international student scholarship is based on an overall evaluation of your application file, including your academic record, a personal statement, as well as examples of involvement and leadership. No additional forms are required. You will be considered for scholarship when your completed application is reviewed by the Admissions Committee. If accepted, you will receive your scholarship offer along with your letter of acceptance.

Deadlines
Please submit a completed application and all supportive materials by February 1. If your application is received or completed after February 1 you will be considered for scholarship and aid if funding is still available.

Amount of Aid
This is important to know before you spend time completing the Hope College application for admission. International student financial aid and scholarships at Hope range from $15,000 to $25,000 per year. This means your parents or sponsor will need to provide approximately $30,000 per year in additional support.
