Every year, native teaching assistants from France, Germany, Japan and Spain spend
the academic year with Hope students.
They teach conversation classes, offer tutoring, organize events for the department, live in the language houses, share their knowledge of the home culture and develop deep bonds with Hope students.
Meet Our Native Teaching Assistants
JUSTINE DELAVAUD | FRENCH
Hi there! My name is Justine, and I am 22 years old. I have lived my whole life in Nantes, France, where I also just graduated university in English studies (history and literature). I have never been to the U.S. but it has been a dream and goal of mine for a while. I aspire to become an English teacher in France, so I am looking forward to this new experience as your next French language assistant!
ANNA GLUP | GERMAN
Hi! My name is Anna and I am 22 years old. I am studying political science as well as English philology at the University of Goettingen in Germany. Before I started studying I worked as an au pair in New Zealand for a year. I enjoy doing sports, reading books or meeting friends. It is my first time travelling to the U.S. and I am very excited to meet so many new people and to experience the American way of life. I will do my best to be a great help for those who want to learn more about the German language and culture.
NAOTO EDA | JAPANESE
Hello! My name is Naoto Eda. I'm from Shizuoka, Japan. I grew up by Mt. Fuji. I went to Hope as an exchange student from Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo almost three years ago. I immediately fell in love with Hope, and that's why I decided to come back as a full time student. One of the reasons I came back to Hope is the amazing Japanese community here. Everyone is welcome! I am so excited to share this community with you!
MARTA AGUADO-RODRIGUEZ | SPANISH
Hi! My name is Marta and I am 22 years old. I grew up in Extremadura, a rural region in Spain, but I have spent the last four years in the city of Granada (Andalusia) where I studied translation and interpreting (English, French and German). I love learning languages but also teaching them, so I will do my best to help you learn Spanish language and culture. I'm super excited to become your new Spanish teacher assistant, and I can't wait to meet all of you and share this wonderful experience in the best place ever: Hope College. Seen you soon!
