Liz ColburnDirector of Upward Bound Program
Liz Colburn has worked with the TRIO Upward Bound program in various capacities since 1982. She started her tenure with Upward Bound as an English teacher then served as a counselor, academic coordinator, associate director and became the program's director in 1987. In this role, Liz writes and implements the Upward Bound grant, supervises the full time staff and oversees the budget and day-to-day operations of the program. Upward Bound is a pre-college program that assists qualified high school students in grades 9–12 to prepare for college.
Prior to her tenure with Upward Bound, Liz taught high school English for four years in Swanton, Vermont.

Outside the College
Liz is a member of the Board of Directors for Destination Education and the Holland Chorale. In her spare time, Liz likes to swim, read and spend time with her husband and three children. She loves all four seasons Michigan has to offer.
