Rev. Lauren TaylorChaplain of Discipleship
Lauren Taylor serves as the chaplain of discipleship. She came to Hope College Campus Ministries in 2015 with the main task of fostering an environment where the Hope College community can follow along behind Jesus by paying careful attention to who God is and how God is working in the world. She oversees Bible studies, small groups and other discipleship special events.
Lauren helps organize and speak at Hope’s three weekly chapel services and the Sunday evening Gathering service. She loves these big gatherings and events, and also spends a significant amount of time meeting with students one-on-one and in small groups talking about what shape discipleship might take in our individual lives. Why I Love Hope
Lauren loves the particular place Hope College and its students hold in the Church. There’s an energy on campus that you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere, as students, faculty and staff all gather together, centered in Christ though coming from many different backgrounds and traditions, to figure out how to shape the lives of college students in a thoughtful, inspiring and faithful way. She counts it one of life’s greatest privileges to walk alongside these students and talk through life’s joys and sorrows as they together work, wait and pray for God’s Kingdom here on earth just as it is in heaven.
Outside the College
Lauren is married to Derek Taylor, who is a Ph.D. candidate at Duke Divinity School. Together, they live in Holland and love spending the weekends exploring Michigan’s state parks and trails with their dog, Charlie, talking and dreaming about the Kingdom of God, sports and what to cook for dinner.
