  2. Big Read Holland Area Includes Multiple Events and Discussion Groups

    The community-wide Big Read Holland Area program coordinated through Hope College and focusing on the book “When the Emperor Was Divine” during November will provide historical, literary, and cultural context within multiple events including multiple lectures, a free film showing, a children’s story time, a dinner, a musical performance, a poetry-writing workshop and a keynote address from the author of the novel, Julie Otsuka.

  3. “Last Lecture” on October 24 to Explore “Lessons from Adversity”

    Dr. Cady Short-Thompson, provost at Hope College, will present the address “Lessons from Adversity” on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in Schaap Auditorium of the Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center through the “Last Lecture Series” organized by the college’s Dianne Portfleet Alcor chapter of the national Mortar Board honorary society.
