The Hope College Great Performance Series will feature the highly acclaimed chamber ensemble, Concertante, on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
The unique arrangement of the sextet allows the ensemble to perform great works rarely heard live. The six musicians carry a wealth of varied experience and degrees from such prestigious institutions as Juilliard, Curtis Institute of Music, and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
As solo performers, the musicians have won major national and international music competitions, and graced the premier stages of the world from New York's Carnegie Hall to London's Royal Festival Hall to Shanghai's Grand Theatre. Concertante has performed a wide array of repertoire ranging from works by established masters to less commonly performed composers.
"Concertante has created a cohesive and beautifully polished sound," "The New York Times" has said.
The ensemble's performance at Hope College will feature the works of Richard Strauss, Arnold Schoenberg and Pytor Tchaikovsky.
Concertante has also recorded many highly regarded CDs and won rave reviews for its live appearances.

Tickets for the performance are on sale at the ticket office in the DeVos Fieldhouse and cost $17 for regular admission, $12 for senior citizens, and $6 for children 18 and under. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890.
The ticket office is in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse, which is located at 222 Fairbanks Ave., between Ninth and 11th streets. Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
