Athletics
As a member of the MIAA and NCAA Division III associations, Hope College sponsors 22 varsity sports for men and women. The college is home to the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship women’s basketball team.

Calvin College has honored Hope coach Karla Wolters as an "Honorary Knight".

The award was presented Wednesday, Oct. 28, during the Calvin at Hope volleyball match.

Wolters has announced she will be retiring fom Hope as a professor and coach upon the completion of the current school year.

Wolters' distinguished career has included coaching at both Calvin and Hope. A 1973 Hope graduate, she served as both the volleyball and softball coach at Calvin from 1974-87 when she joined the Hope faculty. Her coaching stint at Calvin included volleyball which in 1986 finished second nationally in NCAA Division III. Her career has included coaching more than 1,750 contests in basketball, field hockey, tennis, softball and volleyball.
