Megan Scholten a four-time honoree

Five members of the 2011-12 Hope College women's golf team have been named All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association.

Five members of the 2011-12 Hope College women's golf team have been named All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association.

The national honor roll recognizes 585 golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III programs who achieved a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average during the 2011-12 school year.

Hope honorees are (year in school is 2011-12): senior Emily Atsma of Caledonia (South Christian HS), senior Andrea McCarty of Denevr, Colo. (Cherry Creek HS), junior Charlotte Park of Grosse Pointe (Grosse Pointe South HS), senior Megan Scholten of Grand Rapids (Grand Rapids Christian HS), and senior Lauren Zandstra of Flushing (Flushing HS).

Scholten is being honored for a fourth consecutive year while Zandstra is an honoree for a third time. Park and Atsma have each been honored twice.

The Flying Dutch, coached by Greg Stafford, were earlier named to the Academic Honor Roll of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with a 3.692 team cumulative GPA.
