The Hope College Orchestra will present its first concert of the season on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The concert will feature the symphony orchestra performing three works by Amilcare Ponchielli, Ottorino Respighi and Edvard Grieg.

The concert will open with “Dance of the Hours” from the opera “La Gioconda” by Amilcare Ponchielli. To continue the program the symphony will perform the Suite No. 1 of the three suites’ “AnticheedArie (Early Dances and Airs)” by Ottorino Respighi. To close the program, the symphony will perform the “Symphonic Dances, Op. 64” of Edvard Grieg.

The Hope College Orchestra is directed by Richard Piippo, who is an associate professor of cello and chamber music at the college. Piippo has taught at Hope since 1999.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
