Hope is in 13th place in the first NCAA Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings of the 2013-14 school year. 

Hope totaled 142 points after finishing ninth at the Division III women’s cross country championships and reached the quarterfinals of the women’s volleyball championship.

Williams, Mass., is leading conference foe Middlebury (Vt.) by two points, 229-227, in the overall standings. Williams has three top 10 finishes in four championships finished to date - women’s cross country (2nd), men’s cross country (5th) and volleyball (9th).

Middlebury also has three top 10 finishes – women’s cross country (3rd), field hockey (5th) and men’s cross country (7th).  Calvin is in third with 219 points after capturing the women’s volleyball national championship, placing seventh in women’s cross country 27th in men’s cross country.

Johns Hopkins and Washington-St. Louis rounded up the top five with 191 and 183 points, respectively.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men’s.

The next Division III fall standings will be released Thursday, December 12.
