The Hope College Concert Series will feature Gardens & Villa at the Park Theatre in Holland on Friday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m.
Formed by five college friends from Santa Barbara, Calif., Gardens & Villa make summery, mysterious pop music that channels their picturesque hometown. For their second album, “Dunes,” released on Tuesday, Feb. 4, the band retreated to a studio in Benton Harbor. In doing so, the indie-music site, “Stereogum,” writes that the band has “come into their own,” delivering a blend of “punchy post-punk drums, earworm synths, and flutes.” Gardens & Villa’s danceable sound is especially suited to a live setting.
Opening for the evening will be Waterstrider. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the show is set to begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for Hope College students, and are available at the ticket offices in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse (222 Fairbanks Ave.) and the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center (100 E. Eighth St.). Both offices are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890.
Tickets are also available online at tickets.hope.edu/ticketing. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
The DeVos Fieldhouse is located at 222 Fairbanks Avenue, between Ninth and 11th streets. The Park Theatre is located at 248 South River, at the intersection at River and 10th.
